Description

I created the Mix-Ready "MASSIVE" songwriting template with big rock, modern pop-punk and massive metal in mind!

The foundation of this mix is the incredible GGD Modern & Massive 2 drum kit. Those drums are very versatile - just listen to the sound demos - this kit works great in modern rock and with heavy riffs aswell.

For the main rhythm guitar tone I chose the free STL Emissary plugin and added custom Impulse Responses with the free NadIR loader. The other guitars (quad rhythm, octaves, leads) are Neural DSP Nolly X.

The bass tone is very simple, yet very efficient. It's the high-gain preset of Djinnbass 2 by Submission Audio + some EQ and processing to make it sit in the mix.

I used only free and stock plugins for the mixing and mastering. If you want to improve the sound of the mix even further, I recommend using some paid plugins like Slate VMR (for mild saturation) and Flatline II for clipping and great limiting quality. I've included screenshots of how I like to use those plugins on the master, in case you want to replicate the settings.
